Did you check the case with default settings?

I can only reproduce if Sculpt mode is active (which @TheRedWaxPolice (TheRedWaxPolice) has mentioned)

I can confirm. It is calling the active tool [e.g. could be box select as well]
I think this has been reported before, let me see if I can find it.

Did you check the case with default settings?

Yes, the same with factory settings.
Box select called instead drag (idk why it is still default)
