Short description of error
Blender crashes on startup, when enabled plugin is removed. I found this out with the Redshift plugin specifically. After updating Redshift to a newer version and removing the old one, I was unable to start blender without an immediate crash, even before the splash screen. I had to reset Blender to factory defaults, losing all of my customizations.
A more graceful handling of a missing plugin would be great... an error message for example, or at least a way to access and edit your user settings, so you don't lose your entire config after updating one plugin.
Opening Blender and disabling the plugin before updating and re-installing the plugin afterwards works, but with Redshift releasing new versions almost weekly, I'm bound to forget to do this before an update again.
Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
-install an older version of Redshift (3.50 in my case)
-enable Redshift plugin in Blender, close Blender (which should save new config)
-update Redshift to a newer version (3.56 in my case, 3.54 before I found out what was causing the crashes) and make sure older Redshift version is removed
-start Blender, it should now crash even before showing the splash screen
