Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.0.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2021-09-27 18:29, hash: rBc53ffda8a496
Worked: don't know
Short description of error
I used sculpt vertex paint to paint a sphere and converted (stored) the sculpt vertex to regular vertex paint. That results in different brightness values.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
Open the file and switch the sculpt vertex color (Color) and the regular vertex color (Col). There is a massive difference when it comes to the brightness.

You can replicate the bug by using sculpt vertex paint on an object, store the sculpt vertex color to a regular vertex color layer and compare both in material or render preview via shader nodes and or via viewport shading and the vertex option.

Regular vertex color should have the correct brightness i believe.
