Short description of error
Appending a collection that has a Library Override collection inside of it results in that collection getting duplicated and all of the data blocks inside of it become local.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • From a new optionally empty scene, append the collection "Appended Collection" from the "Character File.blend"

The "Linked Collection" inside "Appended Collection", which is linked from the other file, will be duplicated and made fully local to the new scene.

If there are issues replicating the bug, make sure that "Character File" has a correct file path to the "Source Armature File" in the Library Overrides.

Included .blend files (both must be in the same directory):

Thanks for the report, I can confirm.
In fact the duplicates don't seem to be needed. So it doesn't seem like it's intentional.
This behavior is not seen in 2.93 (as far as I can see), so it appears to be a regression.
