checksum of builds are incorrect
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

*System Information**
Operating system: Linux (updated daily)

Blender Version
Broken: blender-3.0.0-alpha+master.4b31a21bcd19-linux.x86_64-release (build from around 2:00 a.m. )
Worked: blender-3.0.0-alpha+master.4b31a21bcd19-linux.x86_64-release (build from around 4:00 a.m. )

Short description of error
Checksum does not reflect vital changes to blender

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
The broken build (see above) has the Crash-when-getting-a-haircut-bug.
The working build (see above) has a fixed version of that coiffeur implemented.
Both share the same CRC.
Cannot report for other operating systems though...I am a Linux-only-guy.

Event Timeline

Can you provide the full-link for the builds you downloaded?

Both were downloaded form builder.blender.org.
The build done at about 2:00 is no longer there.
The later, working build is here:
https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/blender-3.0.0-alpha+master.4b31a21bcd19-linux.x86_64-release.tar.xz

Since the filenames of both builds are identical (same checksum) I think, the latter one has overwritten the former.
I have both builds on my harddisk...if it helps, I can provide them...
PS: Same problem (same CRC, different content) occurs with the daily builds of the LTS versions of blender.

Sorry - my report was partly wrong. The problem with the hard lock when editing particle hair is still there.
But the checksums are still misleading. From my harddisk:

( I added "-defunc" to the archive due to hair editing problem)

Both archives have the same crc but differ in length.

If you open both Blenders, what is their corresponding CRC? (if you click on the Blender icon > About Blender).

The problem with the hard lock when editing particle hair is still there.

Hi, fix is already committed in master: rB45f167237f0c: Fix T91981: Crash when using operators that needs scene depth
(Try again with latest build: https://builder.blender.org/download/daily)

Hi,
thank you very much for the fix! I already commented in the according issue report! Helps a lot here!

comparing both blender executables show, that they differ (cmp stops comparing at the first mismatch...so other difference may be also there).

We had to restart the buildbot this week.

Maybe this is what caused the build to differ. I suggest we archive this for now and if it happens we revisit this issue.

Thanks for bringing this up.
