Hi there.

There is an issue with the Blend Modes in Blender’s VSE between Channels.

The issue appears when attempting to blend opacity transition between Channels. In short I have a clip or an image on Channel 1 and place another clip/image on Channel 2 and want to blend them together. I am using Cross blending mode for the Channel 1 as a base and choose, for example, Exclusion for Channel 2 and fade the Exclusion out by keyframing the Opacity of the Exclusion Channel. The transition does not work for the Exclusion, as is also the case in many other blending modes. In previous versions of Blender the Alpha Over did not work but has been fixed now, but there are several other blend modes that do not respond to the opacity transition. I come from Premiere and these transitions work there so I am sure this is a bug that can be fixed or perhaps it is just how Blender handles the blend modes and that might be changed. I love Blender and have been using it for a long as a 3D app, but want to see if I can use Blender as my main VSE as well and am therefore making this report to see if it could help make Blender even better - keep up the good work :-)

I have gone through all the blend modes and listed them below to show which work and which are not working.

The setup is as follows:

MacBook Pro, Intel, Mojave 10.14.6
Blender 3.1.0 Alpha
Images PNG with Alpha
Channel 1 - Blend Mode Cross Opacity = 1
Channel 2 - Testing blend modes, keyframing Opacity from 1 - 0.

Please check with latest alpha build from https://builder.blender.org/download/daily/

This issue was resolved 2021-12-29, your build is from 2021-12-27

I just dowloaded today to be sure
Version 3.1.0 (3.1.0 2021-12-28)
This is the latest version on Blender.org

I see now, buildbot is stuck on broken test so builds are not updated. I don't think I can fix this issue now. Can you check tomorrow? Responsible developer was notified, so this may be fixed in meantime.

Hi @Pratik Borhade (PratikPB2123)

I tried the recebt build and everything works fine - good job :-)

Thanks @Tora Stiefel (TORA). Will close this report :)
