Graphics card: rtx 2080 TI

Blender version 3.0 stable
Render artifacts in Cycles when rendering a multi material mesh with sss combined with glass or transparent shader. the transparent shader is shadowing the sss part of the model. this is not the case when the shaders are also separated in to two different objects.

Create two boxes assign a sss shader to one and transparent shader to the other. render in viewport. It works as supposed to. Now join the two objects in to one mesh. Render and see the "shadow" artifacts. or see attached file

I can confirm. However I'm not sure if this is a bug or a limitation of the Subsurface Scattering algorithms.

Yes I had the same thought but I think its a huge drawback work wise. Im not sure howe it worked in 2,9*
