Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22000-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 512.96

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.2.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-06-07 18:03, hash: rB2161a892519e
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Having a Dense scene while "Show Overlays" is activated, causes huge viewport lag in both Solid and rendered mode cycles, by deactivating or disabling "Show overlays" viewport becomes smooth no matter how dense the scene is

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error
I've attached a test file to explain the issue so first thing you'll find a Box with a subd modifier scattered on a plane, test the original settings i made if you don't notice performance drop in viewport navigations frame rate (pan/rotate) you'll need to increase the scatter count till you feel the lag, then compare the viewport navigation speed when "Show Overlayes" turned ON and OFF, in both cycles and solid mode

Did this used to be much faster in 3.1? I mean, is it a regression?

I tested it in 3.2, it was mentioned in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXdnAVKEU8E , Using 3.1.2

This is not really a bug, overlays do extra rendering and computations, so it is expected that they would introduce lags. Unless this is a regression, we don't consider this a bug.
