Thanks for the report. I'm not able to replicate the crash in your uploaded file.
Object shown in video (Grill rim) and provided in file (Door or front Fender) are not matching.
Please provide us steps for replicating the crash.

My apologies, I uploaded the file prior to the issue.
I have now attached the correct file that matches the process that i took in the video.

To recreate

  1. In Object mode
  2. Turn off the on cage on the subdiv
  3. Apply the mirror modifier
  4. Go back into edit mode
  5. Turn on the On cage on the subdiv.

This immediately closes blender

Hi, thanks for the information.
Actually this is same report as T98866: subdivion modifier crash on cage mode (EDIT MODE)
Fix is already committed in master(3.3) and also listed for corrective release
For now, I'd suggest you to either disable GPU subdivision or download 3.3: https://builder.blender.org/download/daily
To disable GPU Subdivision: EditPreferencesViewportSubdivisionGPU Subdivision

Thank-you, I have turned off GPU subdivision for now and thats stopped the crashing.
Was driving me crazy turning off the on cage and extruding a tiny amount and then turning it back on and dealing with doubles later as a work around :)
