Scale Cage does not respect 'Absolute Grid Snap'
Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

System Information
Operating system: Windows-10-10.0.22000-SP0 64 Bits
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 with Max-Q Design/PCIe/SSE2 NVIDIA Corporation 4.5.0 NVIDIA 511.79

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.2.0, branch: master, commit date: 2022-06-08 10:22, hash: rBe05e1e369187
Worked: Never

Short description of error
When using the 'Absolute Grid Snap' option under 'Increment' snap, the scale cage's vertices/edges/faces do not snap to absolute grid coordinates.

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  1. Make default cube
  2. Turn on 'Increment' snapping
  3. In snap settings, turn ON 'Absolute Grid Snap'
  4. Use the 'Scale Cage' tool and translate one of the faces.
  5. Result: Things appear to snap depending on their relative start position, ignoring 'Absolute Grid Snap'.

Event Timeline

Absolute Grid Snapping is only used on the translation operator. This has always been so.
There are plans to create a new snap mode for Grid, but the idea needs to be approved first. See T69342: Snapping: Make 'Absolute Grid Snapping' a new Snap Mode.

So thanks for the report, but the issue reported here is a request for modified/improved behavior and not a bug in current behavior. Closing as this bug tracker is only for bugs and errors.
