Closed, ArchivedPublic

Description

System Information
Operating system: macOS-12.4-arm64-arm-64bit 64 Bits
Graphics card: Apple M1 Pro Apple 4.1 Metal - 76.3

Blender Version
Broken: version: 3.3.0 Alpha, branch: master, commit date: 2022-06-27 22:46, hash: rB7a44f62bdb60
Worked: (newest version of Blender that worked as expected)

Short description of error
Blender freezing when using cycles GPU compute (metalRt enabled)

Exact steps for others to reproduce the error

  • Make sure it's the default startup, with MetalRT enabled.
  • Change renderer to Cycles, GPU compute.
  • Change viewport to rendered view. Beachball.

Seems to happen with or without MetalRT, by the way.

Event Timeline

Germano Cavalcante (mano-wii) changed the task status from Needs Triage to Needs Information from User.Jun 30 2022, 9:04 PM

I can't replicate the problem.
Are you sure you waited for the "render kernels" to finish loading? (may take a few minutes the first time)
Occurs in any scene, including the default Cube?
