| Bend Transform with Clamp ON and OFF | |||||
| This tool rotates a line of selected elements around the 3D Cursor, forming an arc where they bend. Normally the arc turns through a clamped rotation angle with the selected elements extended along a tangent line beyond that ( See left image above ). When the clamp is OFF, the arc continues around aligning the selected elements into a circle ( see right image above ). | |||||
gregzaalUnsubmitted Not Done Inline ActionsLines should be a maximum of 120 characters long. Most decent text editors can show you the column number (usually in the bottom corner) or even display a ruler at the 120 character mark. gregzaal: Lines should be a maximum of 120 characters long. | Usage
gregzaalUnsubmitted Not Done Inline ActionsIt's better to avoid writing these sort of mini tutorials - this section could be placed above in the description and rephrased shorter to something like: "Common usage is to align the view and place the cursor at the pivot of the arc, then bend it... this can be useful for..." gregzaal: It's better to avoid writing these sort of mini tutorials - this section could be placed above…
| ===== | |||||
| - Align your view to match the plane of the intended bend. | |||||
| - Place the 3D Cursor at the start point of the arc ( :kbd:`LMB` ) | |||||
| - Select the elements to be moved. | |||||
| - Position the mouse along the line of selected elements. | |||||
| - :kbd:`Shift-W` and drag to create the bend. | |||||
| - Control the shape interactively by moving the mouse or get exact values by typing a number into the bottom left corner of the 3D window header. | |||||
| - :kbd:`ALT` sets *Clamp* OFF to form a circle. | |||||
| - Press :kbd:`Return` to confirm the transformation. | |||||
| Hint: You can turn the bend angle through multiple rotations potentially forming a spiral shape. | |||||
gregzaalUnsubmitted Not Done Inline ActionsThere's nothing wrong with this, but just to note that we can use a special 'hint' directive that has some fancy formatting: .. hint:: You can turn the bend angle through multiple rotations potentially forming a spiral shape. gregzaal: There's nothing wrong with this, but just to note that we can use a special 'hint' directive…
