Just tried this file on the latest MacOs build - 3rd July, and yes, it works fine. I tried it again on the build from July 2nd and it still crashes in that build, so I guess whatever it was has disappeared in the latest build.

I can't seem to get to the crash log. Blender crashes and closes. When I reopen it the console is refreshed for the new session. Is there another way to retrieve the crash information?

I will have a bit more of a play around and see what I can find. Thanks much for trying it so quickly!

I did a global restore of my key maps and that fixed the problem - of course I did not go through each one so I don't know which one may have actually caused the problem. However, your key-map suggestion jogged my memory and I remembered hovering over a button in the proprieties panel, I accidentally made the wrong click and it asked me if I wanted to assign a shortcut - I clicked again thinking that would cancel the action but it may have actually assigned that click to the key-map. Come to think of it any key or action would probably do that, I am wondering if there should be a cancel button in the popup?

Yes I see what you mean, I had forgotten all about the extrude edge option. However, if I am extruding away from four selected lines, as in the case of a plain or multiple lines as in the case of an Ngon, why am I getting an extra face in between them. I should be getting a new face out ward from the direction of extrusion not a fill in between them as well. Also, why is this not happening if the original fill type of the circle is an triangle fan? In essence I am getting an extrusion and also filling a "new face" that I do not want. Does this happen in other design software? I only know blender, so I really have no idea if this is normal.

It is becoming quite a mystery. In the past when obj files have failed to import I assumed it was a bad download form the site I sourced them from and deleted them. It happens so rarely that I didn't think it was a Blender problem. I will see if I can find some that do not work on my system and offer some feed back. Only thing we can do is keep working the problem, pity it is so random.

That file does not work on my system either. However the rest of my obj files open fine.

Import OBJ is working for me in the latest MacOS build (31 May)

I just downloaded today's build and everything is working fine now... Have no idea what happened there. I checked my undo/redo preferences, addons, etc , nothing strange there. Anyway, works now.

I am having the same problem, I have been making a large test file in 2.8. The last change I made was to make a master collection containing a window frame and portal. I instanced this collection to the scene a dozen times. Everything was loading fine on the Mac OS build for 13th may but the build for the 14th may build crashes when opening the file. I have an archive scene without portals and that opens just fine in the 14th may build. I cannot seem to reproduce the error on a smaller test file. The file that crashes as around 10M faces and takes 6GB ram.

Just downloaded the latest 2.8 build for MacOS (Hash a58a4f48bef4) and the problem seems to have been "fixed". All my addons are working fine with no error reports. I have had this problem early on where an addon would stop working for a new daily release then work again for the next. This is the longest period (three releases) where addons stopped working and started again. It may be something to do with the MacOs Build process?

I tried your suggestion. Looks like it is the “far clip” parameter. It is fine at the default values and deteriorates after about the 4,390m mark.

Found it! Looks like its a conflict with the MACHIN3tools Addon. I will contact the developer and let him know.
