Thanks, Robert. My mistake. I'll be happy to follow this thread and test any Blender code fixes in future builds.

I would have expected the call to glDrawElementsInstancedBaseVertex() to at least return an error status and not crash with a divide by 0 error. So I'd think the root cause is in AMD's driver for the GPU. Maybe a future macOS release would have an updated driver? I can see glDrawElementsInstancedBaseVertex() is called multiple times to draw Blender's UI, but only seems to crash for me when adding Particle System = Hair. I'd trust the developers to know if there's any workaround possible or desirable.

Apologies... Wrong date: I did git pull today, Oct 9. Attaching the Blender git log.
Hi Blender Friends,

It looks like AMD doesn't support updated drivers for Apple products:

I'm no expert, but it seems to be crashing in the graphics card driver.

Crashes in the same way using this daily build:

I'm running on a
MacBook Pro (Retina 15-inch, Mid 2015) running macOS Big Sur Version 11.6.

Blender 2.94.3 crashes on my older MacBook but not on my newer Mac when I have a hair particle system attached to a mesh and do the following:
