Not sure if this has already been considered, but one thing that can really enhance collaborative workflow, and re-use of assets across multiple shots or sequences, is having group nodes that read their contents (and what is exposed control wise on the top level of the group) from shared files on disk, particularly if the reading of those files can be managed as assets.
