I updated blender zo 2.75a via the ubuntu update center and the error still exists.
However, I also downloaded from the site you recommended and it seems to work with that version.
Tested the same file twice with both versions (allwasy clicked on "reload trusted") and with the application from the official release page the vram was emptying correctly.

How do I lock the UI?
There error appeared even when rendered via Ubuntu Terminal. So there was no Interface loaded.
Right now, Blender 2.75 RC2 is used. Waiting for 2.75 stable to be released in the Ubuntu-Update center.
