Idea: if eevee cannot support pointiness, is it possible to design an auto baking step (like global illum step) so that a cycles-rendered pointiness map gets auto created for use in Eevee. I guess 'in theory' this could be a plugin too, although it would be better to get a solution into blender core. This is basically what other people are doing manually get get pointiness in Eevee by doing a manual baking step from Cycles... but it's a lot of manual steps if you have several materials that use pointiness.

This is the last feature I need to move entirely away from Cycles for most of my projects <3
@Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) @Dalai Felinto (dfelinto) can we reopen this now that 2.8 is in beta?

fixed
@Brecht Van Lommel (brecht) Thanks, updating to latest nightly 2.8 did fixed the issue. The OPENCL thing is odd since I'm not using an Intel cpu, but I did find that somehow I had beignet installed on Fedora, so I removed it.

@Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) I've checked out the master builds and gave it a spin for about 10 minutes (needed to head out to work soon). So far, I experienced no crashes! Normally I'd crash within 3-4 minutes of sculpting, so this this looking pretty positive.

@Philipp Oeser (lichtwerk) @Campbell Barton (campbellbarton) forgive my bump, but this sculpt crash is the only issue holding me back from using the daily builds, and currently I have to use the daily builds (due to different issue in .79b stable).
