Hello, I've found a similar issue in the Transformation Orientations, just to be sure will be modified too, thank you!

I can confirm it happend in the default scene also, maybe is necessary repeat it few times, I've try to make using show active and in the first time nothing strange was append, but the second time I've see the same strange thing like the numpad point.

maybe I have scaled a little bit small than before and try now, when you arrive in the middle of the bevel lenght you can see it switch from plane to smooth, really strange
