Hey guys, I did just as you said and it worked. It was just a little unintuitive and it takes 2-3 steps before being able to use the grease pencil, but I suppose that's more of a design issue. None the less, I really appreciate the help guys thank you very much. I'll make sure to take my time and get really familiar with the UI before mistakenly reporting something as a bug.
