This is less a real patch and more a "live mockup" to test some ideas for possible changes to Camera View. This is mostly motivated by my dislike for the dashed lines used there, but I also like the idea of having it look more recognizably as a camera viewfinder. Also makes it work better for different dpi and line width (and Macs that don't do wide gl lines).
As a starting example, the following shows the current view with an inactive camera on the top, after patch below. This removes the dotted lines that don't combine well other outlines around the framed area, leaving a cleaner look at the edges.Following shows an **inactive** camera along with center composition guides:

The following again shows an iInactive camera, but while locked to view. Shown while inactive because the current code combines this with the active border so badly that you can't tell what is going on.locked to view, and "Thirds" guides:

The following shows how it looks with an active camera. Again you will notice on the top the combination of dashed lines, a selected outline**Active** camera, along with a darker line. The bottom should again look cleaner.showing safe areas and with golden ratio guides:

The following shows treatment of guides. This patch only implements center guides (for now). Current code shows them in dashed black lines across the entire field, while the patch shows them as intermittent white lines:

The following shows an active camera with both center guides and showing safe areas:
