Blender normal map data is not being rendered in the final render in blender internal but is being taken into account in the GLSL render. I understand that this is probably a system error however this is a consistent error on my system, I have deleted and downloaded blender many times now all to the same result, I have updated drivers and I have tested on older drivers. 350's or thereabouts. I have tested this with the new normal map node. Nothing works which is a shame as I would very much like to use this new version of blender. However in saying this I am able to link/append objects made in 2.77 with normal map data and that said normal map will display as intended.
What I am doing.
Open blender
Delete cube
add plane
scale plane by 10
add material
add normal map texture
set to global coordinates
set sample to use normal map using tangent space and set filter size to 0.1 and check minimum filter.
Uncheck color
check normal
Set to glsl shading.
View texture -( can see normal map data being displayed correctly)
view render (blank plain normal map data not being used at all)
render same as above.
(This is the same for nearly all applications of normal map data)
