The result should be a perfectly sharp cube, but 3.4 softens it a bit.
**Exact steps for others to reproduce the error**
# subdivide a cube a few times
# add a Multires modifier and use Generate->Rebuild Subdivisions
# enter Sculpt Mode to see the "softening" (it doesn't happen in object mode)
