**System Information**
Operating system: Ubuntu 14.04 (linux 3.13.0-24-generic)
Graphics card: Intel Haswell Mobile (4200M)
**Blender Version**
Broken: 2.70a f93bc76 64bit
**Short description of error**
Blender requires libSDL 1.2 but at least Ubuntu 14.04 does not install this library by default so Blender refuses to start.
**Exact steps for others to reproduce the error**
Install Ubuntu 14.04 (with default settings)
Download Blender 2.70a 64bit from blender.org
Try to run blender.
Error appears: "./blender: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL-1.2.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory"
To fix this, one simply needs to install libSDL 1.2 from the package manager, but for a non technical user it not is obvious that this needs to be done or how to do it.
To fix this bug either
a) Statically link with libSDL.
or
b) at least change the text "Requires glibc 2.11." on the download page to "Requires glibc 2.11 and libSDL 1.2".
