The UDIM tile grid behaves oddly/inconsistently in many circumstances for both configuration and display. This design tasks will hopefully a) enumerate the most egregious issues b) provide a place for artist feedback on the proposals c) document the ultimate decision for each item below.
Current topics requiring design and artist feedback since they directly affect a user's workflow:
1) Should the UV tile grid disappear as soon as an image is loaded in the UV editor space?
2) Should there be a way to disable the grid entirely? Should it be part of the Overlay settings and UI?
3) Should the grid only have manual/static dimensions, should it automatically adjust, or should something else be done about the drawing?
4) Should the grid be shown in Paint/Mask/Viewer modes in addition to UV edit?
5) Should anything be done about the grid when displaying non-square images?
