**System Information**
Operating system: Windows 10 Home 64 but
Graphics card: NVidia GeForce RTX 2060 super
GPU compute: OptiX
**Blender Version**
Broken: 2.82
**Short description of error**
Rendering a medium scene in cycles to PNG, rendering sometimes freezes at an arbitrary frame (144 frames total, 400x400, freeze usually occurs around 20-40 frames in). The progress bar is at 100% and the render is finished, but blender is not saving it to disk. The UI remains responsive to a degree, but if I try to close blender, cancel the render, or open another file, blender freezes completely. The terminal debug makes no indication of any errors. Before or after freezing, blender is suddenly using maximum CPU power (I have a 16 core processor).
I suspect a similar problem I was having with an EEVEE render is related, except I was rendering that to video and blender crashed completely sometimes, though not as often as this. Will test if rendering to video causes crash here.
