Change curve type in Sculpting Mode does not make any change in the object.
**Exact steps for others to reproduce the error**
-Enter in Scupting Mode
-Select Clay Strips
-Brush object and it will start as Max Shape
-Change Curve to any other type, something smooth and it does not any difference.
