Working with Rigid Body

start with any mesh, cube for example convert to active using a wind force to blow it across a plain
Change mass of cube from 1 to any other number 10 for example, play animation
Cube mass does not change revert back to 1 and when trying to collide with other objects there is no change
in dynamics.
STEPS I TRIED:
1. Delete object start new one (in same scene) didn't work
2. clear rigid body and add (same cube) as active did not work

Not sure at this point how to uplaod my blend file but I will poke around if I find where to upload
